Subliminal Fornication was culled from a long forgotten session (circa 2012?) with guitarist Jeff Muhr who joined Doug Meyers and I for another improvised collaborative session. Free jazz/improvisation can render beautiful if not predictable sounding albums. What, to my ears, sets this session apart was a looping, drone-like minimalism that characterize the featured tracks. Instead of soloing ad infinitum we all settled in on re-occurring, hypnotic themes boosted by backwards looping, delay and other effects. As always, my percussive contribution is as minimal as possible, ever-attempting to transform percussion from a beat maker to a sound painting.
